John T. Adams joined Haven Bancorp, Inc., parent of CFS Bank in July 1983 in the retail branch management network and shortly thereafter transitioned to the Mortgage Origination Department as a Staff Appraiser. Since that time, he has assumed progressively advanced roles including commercial mortgage lending, originations and construction lending management. Mr. Adams became a Sr. Mortgage Lending Officer in 2003 where he was assigned the higher profile lending relationships and more in depth commercial real estate loan originations. In 2013, his role was expanded to Managing Director and included Chief Administration Officer duties where he oversaw the day to day operations of the Bank's Lending Department. This role included the oversight of the lending staff in Arizona, Florida and Ohio, where he gained a strong knowledge of those real estate markets. In 2017, Mr. Adams was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer. In this capacity, he manages credit risk and credit risk administration to ensure the Bank's asset quality is acceptable through the oversight of the credit risk posture of New York Community Bancorp, Inc., New York Community Bank, and other of their affiliates designated from time to time.

With assets of over $53 Billion, New York Community Bancorp has grown since 2000 through the acquisition of eight (8) banks. NYCB currently has 239 branches located throughout New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Arizona and Florida. The Bank’s commercial real estate lending activities mirror its retail banking footprint with an additional emphasis in Pennsylvania.
New York Community Bank’s CRE portfolio totals over $35 Billion and with annual originations ranging $8 – 10 billion, the Bank is recognized as one of the most prolific multi-family lenders in the country. Additionally, the Bank provides financing for office, retail, and multi-tenanted light industrial properties.

Mr. Adams’ professional and personal affiliations include memberships in the New York Mortgage Bankers Association, Queens Bronx and Long Island Builders Association, Chairman of the Board for the Cleary School for the Deaf, Board Member of the New York Community Bank Foundation and Catholic Charities of Rockville Centre, as well as membership of various Board Committees of Catholic Charities. Mr. Adams also participated in numerous Real Estate Group panels and cable television programs. He is a former adjunct professor for the Real Estate Institute and served as past President of Community Bankers Mortgage Forum.

Mr. Adams received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from New York Institute of Technology and a Post Graduate Degree from the National School of Banking with Honors. Mr. Adams had also completed all required education and experience to obtain his Residential Real Estate Appraisal license in New York.
